Durbuy makes a great base for horseback riding. Several riding schools in the area (Wéris, Warre, Heyd, Septon) organise horseback riding tours and horse-drawn carriage rides.
Canoeing and kayaking
The river Ourthe is the starting point for kayaking and canoeing adventures. It is possible to start your kayaking trip from the heart of Durbuy and return by bus, but on request the company will bring you and your rented kayak to another starting point.
In Durbuy and surroundings can be done several outdoor activities. Climbing, caving, adventure trail, deathride, abseiling and treetops trail are a few examples of the many challenging survival activities.
The Belgian Ardennes has perfect fishing spots. Wild rivers, reservoirs, and artificial fishponds give fishermen a wide range of possibilities to practise their favourite pastime in protected areas. The Nature Park of ‘The Two Ourthes’ comprises a large part of the Ardennes territory. Alongside the river Ourthe angling and fly fishing are popular with fishermen. Among the most sought-after species in the area are trout, grayling, whitbait and predatory fish.
